Fat bar – thick bar for thick forearms
The name says it all at the Fat Bar. It is not for nothing that training with the special bar not only ensures a particularly firm handshake, but in all respects also completely new training stimuli. No matter whether in CrossFit, in classic bodybuilding or during strongman training. A hearty fat bar with its advantages is part of the basic equipment in every professional sports facility.
Special features of the Fat Bar
The big difference to other barbells is immediately apparent with the Fat Bar. With an inner diameter of 50 m, the bar is significantly thicker than a standard barbell. This makes handling much more demanding.
At the same time, our Fat Bar scores with a structured handle bar and handle markings, so that optimal grip is guaranteed even with heavy lifts in the Strongman sector. Thanks to the 50 mm mounts with a length of 39 cm each, the bar offers enough space for record attempts. All weight plates with an Olympic-compliant standard bore of 50 or 51 mm are compatible.
Important note: Unlike a standard Olympic barbell, a fat bar does not have pivoted weight receptacles. This means that the weight plates cannot rotate freely during training.
The light alternative to the Axle Bar
With a length of 213 cm, the Fat Bar has monumental dimensions and thus radiates the necessary energy that is needed for a high-intensity workout. Despite its length, the barbell bar, made from a thick-walled steel tube, only weighs 17.6 kg. This makes them a whole 3.1 kg lighter than our chic black Axle Bar.
More grip, new growth stimuli
The inner diameter of 50 mm is a real challenge for grip strength. With a fat bar, exercises such as deadlifts, rowing and various other lifts can be made significantly more demanding. The Fat Bar is also ideal for biceps curls and various presses for the chest, shoulder and triceps muscles.
However, the forearms benefit the most, because the large handle diameter means that they have to do a lot more work to keep the weight safe. This additional challenge changes the entire training stimulus, which sets new impulses for the target muscles. So if you want to build grip to eliminate this limiting factor in exercises such as deadlifts or in strongman competitions, the Fat Bar is ideal for you.
Attention: Due to the higher demands on grip strength, you can move much less weight with the Fat Bar when lifting than with the classic barbell.
